Youth Programs
The Mid-Fairfield Emergency
Services Education & Outreach Programs for Youth
are offered free of charge. Programs and presentations
are Flexible, Fun, and Age Appropriate.

Disaster
Services
Workshops:
- The Science of Disasters - This
program uses hands-on activities to teach children
in grades K-8 the science behind natural disasters
and ways they can prepare and stay safe for weather-related
disasters, such as hurricanes and floods.
- Help Can't Wait - The Red Cross
Disaster Response - This program helps youth of
all ages understand how the American Red Cross responds
following a disaster. Through hands on activites,
students will follow the Red Cross as it helps a
community recover from disaster.
- History of Helping Others -
This workshop for high school students focuses on
the 120 year history of the American Red Cross disaster
response. Through discussion and activities students
will learn about the role of the Red Cross before,
during and after a disaster.
Service Projects:
- Together, we can save a life
- Disaster relief projects - After a natural disaster
occurs in the United States, youth can help collect
money for Red Cross disaster relief. Material can
also be made available to help students understand
the role of the American Red Cross following disaster.
Students can also choose to raise funds following
Internaltional disasters.

International
Services
Workshops:
- The Red Cross around the World
- This exciting presentation teached youth in grades
K-6 about the International Red Cross movement and
Red Cross and Red Crescent National societies that
provide humanitarian assistance around the world.
- Humanity in times of War - International
Humanitarian Law (IHL) - This workshop helps students
in grades K-12 understand the relationship between
IHL and human rights and the impact and role of
the International Red Cross Movement during times
of conflict.
- Hope and Help - International
Relief and Development - This presentation teaches
youth in grades 6-12 about the role of the International
Red Cross movement in developing countries as well
as countries affected by national disaster and the
role of the American Red Cross following International
didasters, including fundraising and Red Cross messages.
Service Projects:
- A Class Act - International
School Chest Program - This program gives young
people an opportunity to provide school supplies
for children in developing countries. This project
includes a list of required items, directions for
group leaders, as well as information for students.

Additional
programs for ALL ages.
- Red Cross 101 - This workshop
teaches youth about the Red Cross and provides an
overview of the different services we provide in
the community and ways for them to become more involved.
- Girl Scout / Boy Scout troops
- Presentations can be arranged to help your troops
meet requirments for their merit badges.
